I have been interested in the snapshot and in particular the idea of the Intimate Life. Photographers such as Corinne Day, Nan Goldin and Ryan McGinley depicting youth culture and also starting to use this same snapshot style within fashion brands.

This image I have chosen is one of Corinne Day's earliest mages of Kate Moss in 1993. It was the image that was to push Kate Moss into the fashion spotlight and is today a global Fashion Icon. It was also the start of a huge shift in how fashion photography was seen.

"The Heroin Chic look was Fashion, Documentary and Art Photography's shared attempt to bring addiction into focus for those who wanted to look." (Timothy A. Hickman)

For me these images show the birth of Kate Moss as a global brand. They also show where documentary and art photography for photographers such as Corinne Day and Nan Goldin shooting 'the real' became far more globally available in the media.
