Zineb Sedira: Mother Tongue 2002

Zineb Sedira: Mother Tongue 2002

This was a really powerful installation.  It shows how family ancestry is so diverse. In some ways it was sad that a grandmother couldn't share stories with her grand daughter in her mother tongue. The simplicity of the questions the little girl was asking and the non responsive answers because they didn't understand each other.

Very interesting and very well executed. I have never made any work using sound and video but would love to think about this aspect of image making in the future.
