Just started to think about professional practise and found this photograph of me and Ryan McGinley on one of my first assisting jobs. I was so inspired by the way McGinley as an artist had managed to break into both the commercial and art photography markets. Many photographers go in either one direction or the other but these days it seems more and more common for commercial photographers to show in galleries and for art photographers to work on commercial commissions. It never seemed to be the case when I was first learning about photography or maybe I just hadn't had any experience or seem it happen before. Similar to McGinley, Juergen Teller is another photographer working in a similar "snapshot style" who has done the same thing in both markets.
