Looking back at where my work started and at other disciplines that influence my image making it was discussed that The Cinematic plays a big part in the images form the Sarah series as well as my earlier panoramic snapshot work. An interesting way of looking at it as I hadn't personally looked at this work in such a critical way before and it has completely changed my view of the work and the meaning behind it for the better. Something I think will definitely play a big part now in my work going forward.
Questions were raised about who the viewer is? The work was a project about memory, Imagination and overall about therapy. I think this particular image is for me as the image maker, for the viewer as a snippet into my familial story and for Sarah who the project is about.
Really interesting to see where Alexandra is coming form with her work. I noticed that she mentioned a few times the notion of photographic integrity and that photography can be misleading. I'm personally not sure that there is an issue with photography being misleading as after all an image can be viewed in very different ways by different people. It was interesting to see that being such an important part of the image making process to her and food for thought for my work going forward.
I have been really encouraged by this first webinar and already have different thoughts about my work, about direction, focus and on the end product.
