Jean-Marc Bustamante talks about the frame of the landscape. I really enjoy his idea of the Landscape and in particular the frame of the landscape photograph being similar to the frame of our lives.
Once you see into the frame, it is not just a photograph, it is something more...
Here I think Bustamante is right in the way he thinks of the frame. In terms of relating that to what I am thinking about with my landscape photography I guess the viewer will see the landscape but I want them to see more. I want them to see something else. I don't think that something else can me taught and you can't tell someone what it is they are to see in an image. I want people to look at my images the way I look at other photographers landscapes.
I love the way Bustamante has captured so much within the frame. There is a great deal to look at and to observe. I don't get a familiar feel when I look in to the frame but I do get a sense of seeing what he sees. I don't always get that when I look at photographs. Is that what makes it a photograph I enjoy perhaps?
