Location Reference Images and notes

I planned to head to Devon this weekend to make some work but the snow put a stop to that.

Instead I have come up with a series of location reference images taken from tourist board websites, and Google street view of places I want to make some work. The notes below each image are some thoughts or brief descriptions of the place or the memory I have of that place. Maybe I will annotate these images but perhaps its better leaving the questions to the viewer...?

All the reference image below have been cropped to the 6x9 ratio which is what I shall be using to make the images for this project.

Babbacombe Beach. I spent loads of time there as a child. I seem to remember we went on a Sunday afternoon after lunch. The right hand side of this image near the cliffs is all closed now as the cliff has fallen into he see taking the house that was built on it down with it.

The dry Ski slope which I didn't realise was still there. I learnt to skit here as a child before going on my first skiing holiday to Austria with my grandparents.

2 views of Compton Place. This was my mums first house in St Marychurch just around the corner form my primary school. She moved in there when she came back to Devon from her nursing degree in Oxford. Aged 4 this was the first time I had lived with my mum.

2 views of Beechefield Avenue. This exact view for me as a child was a 2 mile square grass common where I used to run around and collect frog spawn from the natural ponds. When we moved away there were routers of this development happening but no body thought it would actually happen. Now there are 3 superstores, and over 200 houses built on this land. A major man made change to the landscape.

Danielle Yallands house. She was my best friend from as early as I can remember. We keep in touch form time to time but she lives in Vancouver now. Her mum and my grandmother used to take it in turns doing the school run.

This is The Vicarage II. It is number two as it was actually pretty new when we lived there. I remember the house we lived in on almost the same site before. it was Yellow. This house was built 3 metres behind our old house so there was space for the new road. The road we never thought would actually get built. The white lines in the road are approximately where the kitchen used to be.

St Martins Church. My Grandfather was the vicar there. I grew up in this church community for a big part of my childhood. I went back to a funeral last year and some of the congregation still remembered me. Some of these people are going to let me photographthezm to go alongside this project. This is the road I remember my dad driving down in his brand new red royal mail van which had a sliding door. He always wore shorts to work as a postman, even in the winter. I don't know why.
